Anxiety

Anxiety can be a natural part of life for everyone. There may be times in life where a person can feel anxiety over work, home life, relationships, school, and more. However, anxiety can progress and become more of an inconvenience for some. When it gets to a point where worry, fear and anxiety or panic symptoms feel out of control or overwhelming, and make it more difficult to function in daily activities - that’s where therapy can become a helpful tool.

Anxious thoughts often keep our minds living in the past or future, where it’s difficult for us to be in the present moment. These thoughts can also be irrational or obsessive in nature, where it’s important for us to learn ways to challenge these. There may be physiological responses to anxiety as well, where our nervous system goes into fight or flight mode, and panic attacks therefore may occur. Your heart rate may increase, you may start to sweat or shake, your muscles may tighten, and your mind may start to race.

In therapy, we can learn to identify the triggers to our anxiety, and then learn ways to cope with our physical and mental symptoms as a result. Learning the right coping skills for you may take some time and patience, and hopefully I can be the right support by your side in this journey.
